Sittin' around listening to a few of the tunes from the bands new album, I became curious to see what a search of 'the awake' + 'a necessary means' would give. I was quite shocked what good old google sent back. The album seems to have some legs on the net. I found quite a few places like Napster, Billboard and Palmares (which is a French Quebec site) where the album was listed. They even have a space on Charity Tunes where a portion of the album goes to those in need. Nice.

I even found a sites in different countries like Yahoo Japan where the album was listed and one site that I can't even find out which place its located.

And that's all beyond the Amazon's out there. Now I just hope others out there are like me sitting around listening to a few of The Awake's tunes and doing random searches of stuff they wanna know.

We got some great news! The Awake has secured funding from MusicNL to complete the album. The remaining peices of the album: mastering & manufacturing will begin very soon. Stay tuned for a release date and CD Release party!

We apologize for the length of time it is taking us to get this album finished up and released. As previously mentioned, we abandoned the whole "demo" idea several months ago and stepped it up a notch so that we can release a full length indie album which we recorded, mixed and produced ourselves. To help make up for the wait we decided to post a song or two or three from the album on our myspace page for your listening pleasure! The "Demo" has turned into a full length independant album. We realized several months ago that the so called "Demo" has grown into something bigger. So we decided to go the extra mile and make this our debut release! We are currently looking for a manufacturer and depending on the turnaround hope to have the finished product in early June.

We haven't been recording as much as we'd like in the past couple of months due to gigs, clashing schedules, moving, christmas, easter, etc. you knows how it is! Anyhow, we DOOOOOOOO finally have another update. LES BASS EST FINI! Yes, yes, we finally finished the drums. haha....Annnnnnd the bass is done now too! 2 songs left to complete for the guitars and vox. We hope to have this complete in the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned, sorry for the delay.

Oh and we heard the other day that there may be a new website in the works for the awake. hmmmmmmmmm.....that should be interesting!

Recording has resumed this week. The drums are now finally completely redone. We got one tune left to do on the bass and two tunes left for guitars and vox. The demo will consist of 11 original songs and possibly 2 or 3 live songs recorded at Distortion on Nov. 3rd, 2007.

We'll keep you posted as we complete the final stages of the recording. Within 2 weeks time we should have a finished product!

How do you buy a copy our debut album 'A Necessary Means?'

Maybe people have been asking me how to get a copy of the CD if you don't live near st. john's. Well, it's right simple! Our cd manufacturer, IndiePool is nice enough to handle all online sales for us. So this means that you can click the link (below), purchase as many copies as you like and they'll be shipped out from Toronto right to your door or mailbox. There are a few different options available for shipping depending how fast you want to receive it.

To make things fair for everyone, all cd's are being sold for $15 regardless where you buy it. However, there's one exception! Those that attend the CD -Re-Release Party next Friday night (Dec 12th at Whalen's Pub), can buy it for $10. We also have t-shirts (mens and woman's) available that night as well as stickers. We will have a couple Awake stocking hats on display for those that would like to order one as well. Anyone looking to buy merchandise that won't be at the CD Release Party can contact me or a member of the band and we'll hook you up! We'll post pictures of the merch as soon as we get them so you can see how it looks.

Dave and Steve will be on K-Rock's "Under the Influence" radio show Sunday night. 5 or 6 songs from the demo will be played and we'll have a chat about the band and our influences (of course)! Tune in this coming Sunday, November 25th!

We are still in the recording process of the demo. We opted to redo the drums with better gear and they're half done now. Bass will be redone over a couple of days after the drums are complete. One vocal track left to record and then we'll be mixing it all down! We're getting there!

--> Tuesday, Oct 30th
We have a guest act that will closing the show for us due to one of our members having to work 7am sunday morning following the show. Matt will be playing a solo acoustic opening set starting at 10:30. We will be playing at 11:30 for approx 80-90 minutes and then KENOBI will be closing the show starting 1:00 or 1:30. These times are not factoring in the time change that happens saturday night. Clocks go back an hour that night so we'll all have an extra hour party/sleep that night! yesssss!

Recent News

Tuesday, Oct. 17th
Matt will be finishing off the vocals tomorrow and maybe thursday night. We are going redo the drums with better gear and add in a few changes on Saturday and Sunday.

Also, we lined up another show at Distortion, Nov. 3rd. We plan to record this show with the house gear and who knows if the quality is good enough, we may add a few tracks to the demo.

--> Tuesday, Oct. 9th
Vocals are well under way and most of the guitar tracks have been recorded. Recording should be complete by the end of next week.

--> Wednesday, Oct. 3rd
Gig is finally booked for Saturday, November 17th at Roxxy's... check back for more details on opening act!

--> Monday, Sept. 24th
Finished recording the bass over the weekend and started the guitars tonight. Getting closer!

--> Wednesday, Sept. 12th
Drums are done!!! Next up, the bass G'tar! This time next week we should be starting the Guitars and in two weeks time the vocals! Pumped

First day of recording begins!

Drums are setup and preproduction has begun for Indie/Demo album. The red light is scheduled to be on starting Saturday Sept 8th. More details to come.

New tune currently titled Eager Beaver is in the works. It's an up beat punky rock riff blended with a melodic vocal line. Hopefully wll be ready for the next gig!

The Awake are going to record an Indie/Demo album starting in early September with an expected completion date for early November. If you're interested in a copy, let us know.
